About the game
Transport Empire is an economic game about running a transport company. You start in 1950 with a bank loan, build stops, stations and depots, buy buses, lorries and trains, set up routes between towns and industries and earn money on every delivery.
If you played Transport Tycoon or OpenTTD, it will all feel familiar: an isometric map with hills and rivers, growing towns, coal mines, farms, sawmills and power stations, station ratings, vehicle breakdowns, railway signals and the company league table. Cargo payment, vehicle prices and station rules come from the rules of the classic game.
The graphics are our own, drawn anew in the same isometric style. Play solo against three computer companies or online with friends: everyone runs their own company, up to eight players on one map.

How to play
- Press Play: the map opens, with money and the date in the bottom bar.
- The easiest start is buses: Build roads → Bus stop at both ends of a town and a Garage by the road.
- Click the garage → Buy vehicle → Buy. Then Orders → Add, click both stops and press Start.
- For trains: Build railway → track, stations at both ends and a depot, then a locomotive, wagons and orders.

Mechanics and rules
Money and the company
- Loans up to £300,000 in steps of £10,000 at 2% a year.
- Delivery payment: distance × amount × cargo rate × a multiplier for delivery speed.
- A nine-part company rating and a president's title; bankruptcy if you stay in the red too long.
Cargo and industries
- Eleven industries: mines, power station, forest and sawmill, oil wells and refinery, farm and factory, iron ore and steel mill, bank.
- Eleven cargo types including passengers and mail. Raw materials are processed into goods you can carry too.
- Industries change output, close down and open.
Stations and vehicles
- A station's rating for each cargo depends on vehicle speed and age, loading frequency and waiting cargo.
- 20 locomotives, 11 wagon types, 4 buses and 30 lorries that appear over the years.
- Vehicles age and break down and need servicing at a depot. Trains can collide with cars at level crossings.
Towns
- Towns grow by themselves; you can speed them up by funding construction.
- In a town you can advertise, build a statue or buy exclusive transport rights.
- The local authority's opinion depends on how many trees you cut and how well you serve the town.
